This event is an introduction to prescribed fire to educate landowners on the safe and effective use of fire as a land management tool. Topics that will be covered include fire ecology, using fire to maintain wildlife habitat, writing a prescribed burn plan, liability, personal protective equipment and tools. Safety while using fire will be a top priority. People that own larger properties (over 40 acres) that are interested in using fire as a management tool to support wildlife habitat are encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided at no charge. This event is sponsored by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Forestry Association, National Weather Service, Arkansas Agriculture Department-Forestry Division, Quail Forever and US Fish and Wildlife Service.
