The 2018 AFA Spring Board of Directors Meeting will take place at the Lodge at Mount Magazine on May 3-4. Gracing the south bluff of Arkansas's high point, the Lodge at Mount Magazine is one of the finest Arkansas lodges and offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in The Natural State. With its sweeping views of the Petit Jean River Valley and distant Blue Mountain Lake, lodging in this mountaintop resort combines a majestic natural setting with first-class amenities.

On Thursday, May 3, starting at 6 p.m., we will have a reception and dinner. Our special guest and dinner speaker is Don Simons, author of America: Mount Magazine, a book published by Arcadia Publishing.  Don started his career as a naturalist in Arkansas State Parks in 1981 and became the park interpreter at Mount Magazine State Park in 2000. His many interests have led to recognition and awards from the interpretive profession. Simons strives to combine human history with natural history, believing they are inseparable.

The Board of Directors meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4. We plan to adjourn by noon.

Please make sure to mention the Arkansas Forestry Association to be included in the room block. The room reservation deadline is April 13.

• Thursday afternoon tour of the Subiaco Abbey, including sawmill and carpenter shop
• Attendees will meet at the Abbey.  The tour will start at 1:30 p.m. and last approximately 2 hours.
• Friday morning butterfly workshop, for guests not attending the Board meeting
• Lori A. Spencer, also known as Arkansas's Butterfly Lady will conduct a workshop on the quest of Monarch Butterfly awareness and conservation.
